TALENT

Here at Secret Showcase we have had the opportunity to work with some wonderfully talented people.

AMYA-RAY

Amya-Ray, 23, Singer/Songwriter from a small town called Crowthorne.
Her genre is an eclectic mix of Folk, Indie, pop with electronic and RNB elements. Some …and I say some, because there are so many …of her influences include the likes of Warpaint, James Blake, Amy Whinehouse, and Sammy Davis Jr.

She says; “I don’t feel like I have found my niche just yet, however, in my personal opinion I am free to experiment and grow as an artist pushing the boundaries!”

Amya released her debut EP ‘Stella’ late last year and is now working on her second EP and planning to record in May.

She says; “I’ve always felt passionate about music; my mother said to me that I was singing from the age of two.”

Amya-Ray discovered she could write music at the age of 11, taught herself guitar six years ago and has been gigging for the last 5 years! Her highlight so far has been performing along side with Wretch 32, meeting Ed Sheeran and Nina Nesbitt and gigging around Amsterdam.

CIIRCUS STREET

Ciircus Steet is a Reading based duo who, together, write their music with a focus on harmonising their unique vocals. Since forming in 2015, they have gigged across the country in numerous venues including the infamous Ronnie Scott’s and The Barfly in London.

As previous solo artists and friends, Sam Brett and Jim Crowder decided to form the band after a series of coincidental events lead the
two to attend a concert together in Oxford. On the way to the concert they noticed a road sign that read ‘Circus Street’ which they thought would make a good band name, and after a few drinks the two decided to combine their talents and form Ciircus Street, marking the beginning
of their music career as a duo.

As well as numerous gigs, Ciircus Street has also featured on BBC introducing and worked with Oak Sessions to release various
videos and live work.

The band, including guitarist Mikey Gee, bassist Rory Evans and drummer Stuart Holley, will be releasing their Debut single in early 2017 and continue to gig across the country.

Glass Foundations was initially founded in late 2013 by Jake Berridge (guitar) and Tom Remington (drums). The band’s line up consisted of one vocalist, two guitarists (rhythm and lead), a bassist and a drummer who all met in their first year of study on a BA Hon’s, Popular Music Performance course at Southampton Solent University.

Over the first two years of university, members of the band left as they decided not to continue on with the music course. It wasn’t until the third year of studying at Solent that Miranda Bland (vocals) and Tony White (bassist) joined the band. As the rhythm guitarist left the band, Jake took on the role of covering both rhythm and lead. Now a four piece band, Glass Foundations re-wrote tracks to fit the line up along with writing new songs. Over time a real bond started to grow within the band and Berridge and Remington felt relieved that after three years of hard work, the band line-up was finalised.

Both of Glass Foundations' demos on Soundcloud have been aired on the southern BBC introducing show within one week of uploading them onto the introducing app. They have also been aired on ‘Chat and Spin Radio’ and ‘Talent Radio’. The tracks have received excellent feedback from both the radio stations and their listeners. They are also in the process of arranging a date to play on the southern BBC Introducing live lounge show.
